Samuel S. Chiu, Ph.D
Samuel S. Chiu is a founding consultant at Oncept, as well as an associate professor in the Department of Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University. Sam’s research and consulting interests include risk management strategies, financial and mathematical modeling, financial portfolio risk monitoring and mitigation. His current focus is on developing pricing models in a competitive or semi-competitive environment, including factors such as regulation, client retention, and dynamic price behaviors as a result of competition.
Sam teaches "Pricing Telecommunications Products and Services", a summer class for undergraduate and graduate students at Stanford University
He received his Ph.D from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award, as well as the Walter J. Gores Faculty Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching and has served on the State of California Telecommunications Advisory Board from 1987 to 1992.
Jean-Pascal Crametz, Ph.D
Jean-Pascal (JP) Crametz specializes in competitive pricing and risk models with a strong focus on technology and telecommunications pricing and price risk management. JP has developed a suite of telecom pricing models and optimization techniques that help clients with the procurement of telecom products and services resulting in tens of millions of dollars in annual savings for these firms.
JP co-authored the very first articles about bandwidth commoditization and has given numerous workshops and seminars on telecommunications policy, pricing, and bandwidth commoditization in the United States, Asia and Europe. He is regularly quoted in the press and is a recognized expert on such issues.
JP’s recent focus has been on developing multi-commodity price risk management strategies for Fortune 500 companies. He received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in Engineering Economic Systems and Operations Research and is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique in France.
